Expanding Space for Others

13 Dhul Qi'dah 1447

الْبَاسِطُ

Al-BāsiṭThe Expander

أَلَمْ نَشْرَحْ لَكَ صَدْرَكَ

Have We not caused thy bosom to dilate

Surah Ash-Sharḥ (94:1)

ارادہ

Today, I will give someone the space they need, even if their silence makes me uncomfortable.

تدبر

Al-Bāsiṭ is The One who expands — who opens what was tight, who stretches what was narrow. In relationships, patience often means creating space: space for someone to feel what they feel, space for a conversation that is not yet ready to happen, space for healing that moves at its own pace. The patient person does not crowd. They expand the room around the people they love and wait.

آیت پر تدبر

Sharḥ — expansion of the chest. Allah did this for His Prophet (peace be upon him) during the hardest years. Before the situation changed, the inner space was expanded to hold it.

دعا

رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي * وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي

(Moses) said: My Lord! relieve my mind. And ease my task for me

Surah Ṭā-Hā (20:25-26)

Mūsā's prayer before the most difficult conversation of his life — confronting Pharaoh. He did not ask for the difficulty to disappear. He asked for the inner capacity to meet it.

حدیث

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Patience is a light.'

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 223
