Suspending Judgement

1 Jumada al-Thani 1448

الْحَكَمُ

Al-ḤakamThe Judge

أَفَغَيْرَ اللَّهِ أَبْتَغِي حَكَمًا

Shall I seek other than Allah for judge, when He it is Who hath revealed unto you (this) Scripture, fully explained? Those unto whom We gave the Scripture (aforetime) know that it is revealed from thy Lord in truth. So be not thou (O Muhammad) of the waverers

Surah Al-An'ām (6:114)

ارادہ

Today, I will catch myself before judging — and choose mercy instead.

تدبر

Al-Ḥakam integrated: leave judgement to the Judge. After four cycles, you are finally comfortable not knowing — not knowing why someone did what they did, not knowing if you are right, not knowing the full story. The integrated life surrenders the gavel. Let Al-Ḥakam judge. You focus on mercy.

آیت پر تدبر

The only qualified Judge. Everyone else — including you — is working with incomplete information.

O Allah, Creator of the heavens and earth, Knower of the unseen and witnessed — You judge between Your servants.

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 770

Surrendering all judgement to Him — the opening of the night prayer.

حدیث

ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'Put the best interpretation on your brother's word until you find something that turns it away from good.'
