Before Everything, Him

الْأَوَّلُ
Al-Awwal — The First
هُوَ الْأَوَّلُ وَالْآخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالْبَاطِنُ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
He is the First and the Last, and the Outward and the Inward; and He is Knower of all things
Surah Al-Ḥadīd (57:3)
ارادہ
Today, I will rest in the knowledge that Al-Awwal was there before I began, and Al-Ākhir will be there after I end.
تدبر
Al-Awwal: before your birth, before this book, before your first prayer — He was. Al-Awwal was there before you needed Him, preparing everything you would ever need. The journey you took this year was prepared before you were born.

دعا
اللَّهُمَّ أَنتَ الْأَوَّلُ فَلَيْسَ قَبْلَكَ شَيْءٌ وَأَنتَ الْآخِرُ فَلَيْسَ بَعْدَكَ شَيْءٌ
O Allah, You are the First and there is nothing before You. You are the Last and there is nothing after You.
Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2713
The Prophet (peace be upon him)'s du'a before sleeping — meditating on Allah's totality. Say it tonight.
حدیث
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said this du'a before sleeping every night.
