Hidden Depths
28 Ramadan 1447
الْبَاطِنُ
Al-Bāṭin — The Hidden
هُوَ الْأَوَّلُ وَالْآخِرُ وَالظَّاهِرُ وَالْبَاطِنُ ۖ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ
He is the First and the Last, and the Outward and the Inward; and He is Knower of all things
Surah Al-Ḥadīd (57:3)
ارادہ
Today, I will be comfortable not understanding everything. Al-Bāṭin teaches that not all truth is visible.
تدبر
Al-Bāṭin is The Hidden — the One who is beyond perception, beyond the reach of the senses. He is real but not material. Present but not visible. If Aẓ-Ẓāhir is the evidence, Al-Bāṭin is the mystery. A faith that has no mystery is not deep enough. Sit with not-knowing. Let the hiddenness be its own kind of intimacy.
آیت پر تدبر
The comprehensive verse on Allah's encompassing nature — First, Last, Manifest, Hidden. Nothing is outside His knowledge.
دعا
اللَّهُمَّ عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ
O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed.
Sunan Abī Dāwūd 5067 (graded ṣaḥīḥ)
He knows what is hidden because He is the Hidden. The unseen is His domain.
حدیث
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Iḥsān is to worship Allah as though you see Him, and if you do not see Him, then know that He sees you.”
— Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 50
