Mercy Between People

الرَّحْمَـٰنُ

Ar-Rahmān — The Most Merciful

فَبِمَا رَحْمَةٍ مِّنَ اللَّهِ لِنتَ لَهُمْ ۖ وَلَوْ كُنتَ فَظًّا غَلِيظَ الْقَلْبِ لَانفَضُّوا مِنْ حَوْلِكَ ۖ

It was by the mercy of Allah that thou wast lenient with them (O Muhammad), for if thou hadst been stern and fierce of heart they would have dispersed from round about thee. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult with them upon the conduct of affairs. And when thou art resolved, then put thy trust in Allah. Lo! Allah loveth those who put their trust (in Him)

النية

Today, I will show mercy to someone who does not expect it from me.

تأمّل

Ar-Raḥmān returns — but this time, the question is not what His mercy means to you personally, but what it demands of you toward others. The mercy of Ar-Raḥmān is not just received; it is reflected. When you show mercy to others — to children, to the elderly, to the difficult, to the stranger — you become a mirror of the Name you carry in your heart. Knowledge without mercy is arrogance. Scholarship without compassion is hollow.

في هذه الآية

Even the Prophet (peace be upon him) was told that harshness would drive people away. The most knowledgeable human being who ever lived was also the gentlest.

دعاء

A du'a that links mercy directly to guidance and unity — when mercy is present, everything comes together.

حديث

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The merciful are shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on earth, and the One in the heavens will be merciful to you.'
