Love in Patience
٩ ذو الحجة ١٤٤٧
الْوَدُودُ
Al-Wadūd — The Most Loving
وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ
And He is the Forgiving, the Loving
Surah Al-Burūj (85:14)
النية
Today, I will show patience to someone I love — not because they deserve it, but because love requires it.
تأمّل
Al-Wadūd is The Most Loving — and love is the highest expression of patience. To love someone is to be patient with them: with their flaws, their growth, their timing, their mistakes. And to be loved by Al-Wadūd is to know that even when He tests you, it is not cruelty — it is the caring attention of One who loves you enough to refine you. The goldsmith is not the enemy of the gold; the fire is not punishment but purification.
في هذه الآية
Ghafūr and Wadūd together — He forgives because He loves. His forgiveness is not bureaucratic; it is personal. He forgives you because He cares about you.
O Allah, I ask You for Your love, and the love of those who love You, and the love of deeds that bring me closer to Your love.
Sunan at-Tirmidhī 3235, graded ḥasan
Three layers of love: His love, the love of those who love Him, and the love of deeds that draw you near. This is the ultimate relational du'a.
حديث
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'When Allah loves a servant, He tests him.'
