الْعَزِيزُ

Al-‘Azīz — The Almighty

خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ وَصَوَّرَكُمْ فَأَحْسَنَ صُوَرَكُمْ ۖ

He created the heavens and the earth with truth, and He shaped you and made good your shapes, and unto Him is the journeying

Surah At-Taghābun (64:3)

النية

Today, I will contemplate one force of nature and see Al-ʿAzīz behind it.

تأمّل

Al-ʿAzīz at cosmic scale: the power that holds galaxies together, that drives tectonic plates, that fuels the sun. The forces of nature — gravity, electromagnetism, nuclear forces — are expressions of Al-ʿAzīz's strength. No force in the universe operates independently of Him. When scientists measure the fundamental constants and find them tuned with impossible precision, they are measuring the fingerprints of Al-ʿAzīz.

في هذه الآية

In truth — bil-ḥaqq. The universe is not arbitrary. Every force, every constant, every law is placed with purpose.

دعاء

A treasure of Paradise — the declaration that all power in the universe has one source.

حديث

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Shall I not guide you to a treasure of Paradise? Lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh.'
