Forbearance Before Ramadan

الْحَلِيمُ

Al-Ḥalīm — The Forbearing

وَلَوْ يُؤَاخِذُ اللَّهُ النَّاسَ بِظُلْمِهِم مَّا تَرَكَ عَلَيْهَا مِن دَابَّةٍ

If Allah were to take mankind to task for their wrong-doing, he would not leave hereon a living creature, but He reprieveth them to an appointed term, and when their term cometh they cannot put (it) off an hour nor (yet) advance (it)

Surah An-Naḥl (16:61)

النية

Today, I will use Al-Ḥalīm's forbearance wisely — repenting for one thing I have been postponing.

تأمّل

Al-Ḥalīm at cosmic scale shows forbearance to a humanity that pollutes His earth, denies His existence, and harms His creation — and yet the sun still rises for them every morning. In Shaʿbān, His forbearance with you is an invitation: He is giving you time to prepare. Time to repent. Time to fix what is broken before the sacred month arrives. Do not waste His patience.

في هذه الآية

Not a single creature — mā taraka ʿalayhā min dābbah. If He punished immediately, nothing would survive. His forbearance is what sustains the world.

دعاء

The du'a of Laylat al-Qadr — but said now, in Shaʿbān, as rehearsal. Prepare the words before the night arrives.

حديث

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Allah extends His hand at night so the sinner of the day may repent, and He extends His hand during the day so the sinner of the night may repent.'
