Forgiven Before Ramadan

٢٧ صفر ١٤٤٨

الْغَفُورُ

Al-GhafūrThe All-Forgiving

قُلْ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِن رَّحْمَةِ اللَّهِ ۚ

Say: O My slaves who have been prodigal to their own hurt! Despair not of the mercy of Allah, Who forgiveth all sins. Lo! He is the Forgiving, the Merciful

Surah Az-Zumar (39:53)

النية

Today, I will seek forgiveness for everything between me and Allah, and release the everyday grudges that are safe to release. Where someone has deeply harmed me, I leave their accountability to Al-Ḥakam, protect my peace, and enter Ramadan clean.

تأمّل

Al-Ghafūr at cosmic scale: the earth forgives your footprint, the body forgives your neglect, cells repair what you have damaged. In Shaʿbān, Al-Ghafūr extends a specific invitation: enter Ramadan forgiven. The scholars say that the 15th of Shaʿbān is a night when Allah looks at His creation and forgives everyone except those who hold grudges or associate partners with Him. Whether or not you observe this specific night, the principle is clear: Shaʿbān is the season of pre-Ramadan forgiveness.

في هذه الآية

Do not despair — lā taqnaṭū. Despair of His mercy is itself a sin. No matter what you carry into Shaʿbān, you can leave it here before Ramadan begins.

دعاء

أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ

I seek forgiveness from Allah and I turn to Him in repentance.

Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6307

The simplest istighfār — five words that can change everything. Said 70+ times daily by the best human being who ever lived.

حديث

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'By Allah, I seek forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day.'

Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6307
