الْمَتِينُ
Al-Matīn — The Firm
أَيَّامًا مَّعْدُودَاتٍ ۚ
(Fast) a certain number of days; and (for) him who is sick among you, or on a journey, (the same) number of other days; and for those who can afford it there is a ransom: the feeding of a man in need - but whoso doeth good of his own accord, it is better for him: and that ye fast is better for you if ye did but know
Surah Al-Baqarah (2:184)
النية
Today, I will embrace the Ramadan rhythm with firmness — not fighting it, but flowing with it, as the earth flows with its orbit.
تأمّل
Al-Matīn on day three — the firmness of the routine is setting in. Suhoor, fast, prayer, iftar, tarāwīḥ, sleep, repeat. The rhythm of Ramadan is itself an act of cosmic alignment: your body's clock synchronises with the sun's movement, your meals follow the prayer times, your sleep follows the Quran. Al-Matīn's firmness in the natural order is mirrored by your firmness in the spiritual order. You are becoming part of something larger than yourself.
في هذه الآية
Ayyāman maʿdūdāt — a limited number. A counted number. The scarcity makes them precious. You do not have unlimited Ramadan days; use each one as if it were your last.
دعاء
ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ وَثَبَتَ الْأَجْرُ إِن شَاءَ اللَّهُ
The thirst has gone, the veins are moist, and the reward is assured, if Allah wills.
Sunan Abī Dāwūd 2357, graded ḥasan
The du'a of breaking the fast — said at the moment of iftar, the most answered du'a of the day. Three facts: the thirst is over, the body is revived, and the reward is confirmed.
حديث
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'A man's good deeds and the recompense for them go on increasing as long as he remains alive and obedient to Allah.'
