The Daily Return

الْمُمِيتُ

Al-MumītThe Bringer of Death

كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ

Every soul will taste of death. Then unto Us ye will be returned

Surah Al-ʿAnkabūt (29:57)

النية

Today, I will fast with presence, identifying one ego-habit I am ready to release — knowing that letting go of what is small makes room for what is true.

تأمّل

Al-Mumīt in Ramadan: the fast trains you to release. You step back from routine, from constant indulgence, from habits that have run on autopilot — and you practise letting go of attachment. Al-Mumīt teaches that everything has a natural end: bad habits end, ego patterns end, the small selves we have outgrown end. Every iftar shows you that what you needed less of, you can do without. The fast is teaching you to release what is not essential — so what is essential can fully live.

في هذه الآية

Then to Us — thumma ilaynā. Death is not the end; it is a return. And Ramadan practises the return.

دعاء

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ حُسْنَ الْخَاتِمَةِ

O Allah, I ask You for a good ending.

General supplication

Every Ramadan could be the last rehearsal. Ask for a good final performance.

حديث

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Remember often the destroyer of pleasures — meaning death.'
