Al-Aḥad — The Unique

لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ

The Night of Power is better than a thousand months

Surah Al-Qadr (97:3)

النية

Today, I will treat this Ramadan day as the unique, unrepeatable gift it is.

تأمّل

Al-Aḥad in Ramadan — this month is unique. No other month carries its weight. No other month has a night worth a thousand months. No other month chains the devils and opens the gates of Paradise. Al-Aḥad made Ramadan singular, unrepeatable, unmatched. And your Ramadan this year is also unique — it will never come again in exactly this form, with exactly these circumstances, with exactly this version of you.

في هذه الآية

Better than a thousand months — khayrun min alfi shahr. Do the math: 83 years of worship in a single night. This is the uniqueness of what Al-Aḥad created.

دعاء

The surah equal to a third of the Quran. In Ramadan, reciting it with understanding is reciting the essence of everything.

حديث

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever says "There is no god but Allah, alone, with no partner; to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise, and He has power over all things" one hundred times in a day will have a reward equal to freeing ten slaves; one hundred good deeds will be recorded for him, one hundred bad deeds will be erased, and he will be protected from Shayṭān that day until evening.'
