Lessons in Loss

٢٥ ربيع الثاني ١٤٤٨

الضَّارُّ

Aḍ-ḌārrThe Distresser

فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا * إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا

But lo! with hardship goeth ease, Lo! with hardship goeth ease;

Surah Ash-Sharḥ (94:5-6)

النية

Today, I will thank Allah for one lesson that only difficulty could have taught me.

تأمّل

Aḍ-Ḍārr integrated: every difficulty was a lesson. After four cycles, you can look back and trace how each hardship shaped you, strengthened you, redirected you. The integration of Aḍ-Ḍārr is seeing the complete picture — the illness that taught patience, the loss that, with time and gentleness, may one day reveal wisdom you cannot yet see, the failure that taught humility. Perhaps none of it was wasted — though you do not have to believe that yet, and the pain you carry is real and valid.

في هذه الآية

Repeated twice — because one promise was not enough. He wanted you to be certain.

دعاء

اللَّهُمَّ أْجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي وَأَخْلِفْ لِي خَيْرًا مِّنْهَا

O Allah, reward me in my affliction and replace it with something better.

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 918

Replace it with something better — the promise that was fulfilled for Umm Salamah beyond her imagination.

حديث

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'How wonderful is the affair of the believer, for his affairs are all good.'

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2999
