Living in Light
٢٧ ربيع الثاني ١٤٤٨
النُّورُ
An-Nūr — The Light
اللَّهُ نُورُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ
Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The similitude of His light is as a niche wherein is a lamp. The lamp is in a glass. The glass is as it were a shining star. (This lamp is) kindled from a blessed tree, an olive neither of the East nor of the West, whose oil would almost glow forth (of itself) though no fire touched it. Light upon light. Allah guideth unto His light whom He will. And Allah speaketh to mankind in allegories, for Allah is Knower of all things
Surah An-Nūr (24:35)
النية
Today, I will be a source of light in one dark situation — bringing clarity, hope, or comfort.
تأمّل
An-Nūr integrated: you have walked with The Light through four cycles. The personal light of guidance. The relational light of good character. The cosmic light of the stars and the Verse of Light. Now, integration: carry the light. Be a source of illumination wherever you go — in a dark conversation, in a confused situation, in a hopeless moment. An-Nūr's light travels through people. Let it travel through you.
في هذه الآية
The Verse of Light — the most meditated-upon verse in the Quran. After four cycles, you see new layers.
دعاء
اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ فِي قَلْبِي نُورًا وَفِي بَصَرِي نُورًا وَفِي سَمْعِي نُورًا
O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my sight, and light in my hearing.
Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6316, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 763
Light in every faculty — the Prophet (peace be upon him)'s du'a when walking to Fajr. Carry it daily.
حديث
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Allah does not look at your outward appearance, but at your hearts and your deeds.'
— Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2564
