Aṣ-Ṣabūr — The Most Patient

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اصْبِرُوا وَصَابِرُوا وَرَابِطُوا وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ

O ye who believe! Endure, outdo all others in endurance, be ready, and observe your duty to Allah, in order that ye may succeed

Surah Āl-ʿImrān (3:200)

النية

Today, I will be patient — with myself, with someone difficult, and with Allah's timing — as Aṣ-Ṣabūr is patient with me.

تأمّل

Aṣ-Ṣabūr integrated: the Most Patient has been patient with you through 287 days of this book — through your inconsistency, your distraction, your days of forgetting. And He is patient still. The integration of Aṣ-Ṣabūr is carrying this patience into everything: patience with yourself as you grow, patience with others as they grow, patience with the world as it turns. Patience is not passive — it is the most active form of trust.

في هذه الآية

Three levels of patience — iṣbirū, ṣābirū, rābiṭū. Be patient within, endure alongside others, and remain stationed. All three.

دعاء

Pour upon us — afrigh. Not just grant us, but pour. Drench us in patience until we are soaked.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever among you wakes up secure in his community, healthy in his body, with food for his day — it is as if the entire world has been gathered for him.'
