The Wisdom in Delay
٢٤ رمضان ١٤٤٧
الْمُؤَخَّرُ
Al-Muʼakhkhir — The Delayer
If Allah were to hasten on for men the ill (that they have earned) as they would hasten on the good, their respite would already have expired. But We suffer those who look not for the meeting with Us to wander blindly on in their contumacy
Surah Yūnus (10:11)
النية
Today, I will accept one delay without resentment — and trust that Al-Mu’akhkhir’s timing is better than mine.
تأمّل
Al-Mu’akhkhir is The Delayer — the One who holds things back when the time is not yet right. Delay is not denial. When something you desperately want has not arrived, it may be that Al-Mu’akhkhir is protecting you from receiving it too soon, or preparing you to receive it properly. His delays are as purposeful as His advances.
في هذه الآية
If He answered every impatient prayer immediately, including the ones made in anger or frustration, it would destroy you. His delay is sometimes the answer.
دعاء
اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي مَا قَدَّمْتُ وَمَا أَخَّرْتُ
O Allah, forgive me for what I have put forward and what I have held back.
Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6398
A du’a that covers both dimensions: what I rushed and what I delayed. Forgive it all.
حديث
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'How wonderful is the affair of the believer, for his affairs are all good. If something good happens to him, he is thankful, and that is good for him. If something bad happens to him, he bears it with patience, and that is good for him.'
