He Needs Nothing

١٠ شوال ١٤٤٧

الْغَنِيُّ

Al-GhaniyyThe Self-Sufficient

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَنتُمُ الْفُقَرَاءُ إِلَى اللَّهِ ۖ وَاللَّهُ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ

O mankind! Ye are the poor in your relation to Allah. And Allah! He is the Absolute, the Owner of Praise

Surah Fāṭir (35:15)

النية

Today, I will worship without expecting anything in return — purely because He is worthy.

تأمّل

Al-Ghaniyy is The Self-Sufficient — the One who needs nothing and no one. Your worship does not benefit Him. Your rebellion does not harm Him. He is complete without creation. And yet He created you, sustains you, loves you — not because He needs to, but because He chose to. That is the most generous kind of love: the love that needs nothing in return.

في هذه الآية

The contrast is absolute: you are the needy ones, He is the Self-Sufficient. Acknowledging this is not weakness. It is the beginning of wisdom.

دعاء

اللَّهُمَّ أَغْنِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ وَبِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with what You have made lawful over what You have made unlawful, and with Your favour over all else.

Sunan at-Tirmidhī 3563 (graded ḥasan)

A prayer to be made rich by Him alone — not needing anything from anyone else.

حديث

Allah says in a hadith qudsi: “O My servants, if the first and last of you, human and jinn, were to stand in one place and ask Me, and I were to give everyone what they asked, it would not decrease what I have, except as a needle decreases the ocean when dipped into it.”

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2577
