Hari 10

True Supremacy on Ashura

21 Rajab 1447

الْمُتَكَبَّرُ

Al-MutakabbirThe Supreme

فَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَى مُوسَى أَنِ اضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ الْبَحْرَ ۖ فَانفَلَقَ

Then We inspired Moses, saying: Smite the sea with thy staff. And it parted, and each part was as a mountain vast

Surah Ash-Shu‘arāʼ (26:63)

Niat

Today is Ashura. I will fast (and ideally pair it with the 9th or 11th, following the Prophet (peace be upon him)'s intention to differentiate Islamic practice), remembering that real greatness belongs only to Al-Mutakabbir, and that Allah always exposes the false claimants in His time.

Renungan

Al-Mutakabbir is The Supreme — the One whose greatness is not arrogance but reality. On the 10th of Muharram, we remember the day Pharaoh discovered this truth too late. Pharaoh claimed mutakabbir-greatness for himself, called himself "your Lord, the Highest," and built his empire on that lie. Then the sea opened for Musa and closed on Pharaoh. The True Mutakabbir revealed Himself, and the false one drowned. Ashura is not only deliverance for the oppressed — it is also the unveiling of who actually deserves the title.

Tentang ayat ini

The sea did not part because the staff was powerful. It parted because the command behind it was divine. Your tools are not the source of your deliverance. He is.

Doa

رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا وَتَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِمِينَ

Thou takest vengeance on us only forasmuch as we believed the tokens of our Lord when they came unto us. Our Lord! Vouchsafe unto us steadfastness and make us die as men who have surrendered (unto Thee)

Surah Al-A‘rāf (7:126)

The prayer of Pharaoh’s own magicians after they recognised the truth. Even those who start far away can end close to Him.

Hadis

The Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked about fasting on the day of Ashura. He said: “It expiates the sins of the previous year.”

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1162
