Hari 179

Devoted to Pardoning

13 Muharram 1448

الْعَفُوُّ

Al-‘AfuwwThe Pardoner

وَلْيَعْفُوا وَلْيَصْفَحُوا ۗ أَلَا تُحِبُّونَ أَن يَغْفِرَ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ ۗ

And let not those who possess dignity and ease among you swear not to give to the near of kin and to the needy, and to fugitives for the cause of Allah. Let them forgive and show indulgence. Yearn ye not that Allah may forgive you? Allah is Forgiving, Merciful

Surah An-Nūr (24:22)

Niat

Today, I will pardon someone completely — not just forgive them, but release the memory of the wrong.

Renungan

Al-ʿAfuww is The Pardoner — the One who not only forgives but erases, who wipes the slate so clean that even the record disappears. Devotion to Allah includes devotion to His character. If He pardons so completely, devotion asks: can you? The highest form of worship is not just prayer and fasting — it is embodying His Names in your dealings with people. Pardoning someone completely, with no residue of resentment, is an act of devotion to Al-ʿAfuww.

Tentang ayat ini

Would you not like that Allah should forgive you? The most powerful motivational question in the Quran. Your willingness to pardon others is directly linked to His willingness to pardon you.

Doa

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي

O Allah, You are the Pardoner, You love to pardon, so pardon me.

Sunan at-Tirmidhī 3513, graded ṣaḥīḥ

The du'a the Prophet (peace be upon him) taught ʿĀishah for Laylat al-Qadr — the most important night of the year, and the du'a he chose for it is about pardoning. That tells you everything about what matters most.

Hadis

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Let not any one of you belittle himself.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, how can any one of us belittle himself?' He said: 'He finds a matter concerning Allah about which he should speak up, but he does not speak up.'
