At-Tawwāb — The Acceptor of Repentance

وَتُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا أَيُّهَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ

And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and be modest, and to display of their adornment only that which is apparent, and to draw their veils over their bosoms, and not to reveal their adornment save to their own husbands or fathers or husbands' fathers, or their sons or their husbands' sons, or their brothers or their brothers' sons or sisters' sons, or their women, or their slaves, or male attendants who lack vigour, or children who know naught of women's nakedness. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And turn unto Allah together, O believers, in order that ye may succeed

Niat

Today — the final day — I turn to At-Tawwāb with everything I am: my gratitude and my guilt, my growth and my failures, my 365 days of trying and falling and trying again. I do not come with perfection. I come with sincerity.

And that is enough.

Because At-Tawwāb does not require a perfect servant. He requires a turning one.

I turn. He accepts.

Alḥamdulillāh.

Renungan

At-Tawwāb. The Acceptor of Repentance. The One who turns toward you the moment you turn toward Him.

This is where the journey ends — and it could not end anywhere else.

You began 365 days ago as someone seeking to know the Names of Allah. You walked through four cycles: personal, relational, cosmic, and integrated. You sat with the same 99 Names again and again, each time seeing something new, each time going deeper, each time being changed.

And now, on the last day, At-Tawwāb asks only one thing: turn to Him.

Not with perfection. You were not perfect this year. You missed days. You got distracted. You read without feeling. You felt without changing. You changed and then changed back. You are human, and humans are beautifully, terribly imperfect.

But At-Tawwāb does not ask for perfection. He asks for turning. And the fact that you are reading this — Day 365 — means you turned. Again and again, through an entire year, you turned back to these pages, these Names, this God. And every turning was received.

The scholars say that At-Tawwāb has a double meaning: the One who turns in forgiveness, and the One who causes you to turn. Your repentance was not generated by you alone — He turned your heart toward Him so that He could turn His forgiveness toward you. The entire year was a conversation between two turnings: yours toward Him, and His toward you.

So here you are. Day 365. Accepted. Forgiven. Home.

Not because you earned it. But because At-Tawwāb is who He is — the One who accepts. And you came.

Alḥamdulillāhi Rabbil-ʿĀlamīn.

All of you — jamīʿan. Repentance is not for the sinful alone. It is for all believers, including the best of them. Including you. Especially you, at the end of this year.

Doa

Sayyid al-Istighfār — the master formula for seeking forgiveness. The most comprehensive du'a of repentance in the entire Sunnah. It acknowledges the covenant, confesses the blessing, admits the sin, and asks for forgiveness — all in one breath. This is the du'a that closes your year. (A note on the heart: Allah judges the sincerity of your turning, not the phonetic perfection of your tongue. Read it slowly, in any language you understand, with whatever pronunciation your tongue can manage. The turning is what He receives.)

Hadis

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever memorises and understands the 99 Names of Allah will enter Paradise.'
