Grateful for His Friendship

15 Dhul Hijjah 1447

الْوَلِيُّ

Al-WaliyyThe Protecting Friend

اللَّهُ وَلِيُّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يُخْرِجُهُم مِّنَ الظُّلُمَاتِ إِلَى النُّورِ ۖ

Allah is the Protecting Guardian of those who believe. He bringeth them out of darkness into light. As for those who disbelieve, their patrons are false deities. They bring them out of light into darkness. Such are rightful owners of the Fire. They will abide therein

Surah Al-Baqarah (2:257)

ارادہ

Today, I will sit quietly for one minute and thank Allah simply for being my Waliyy — my Protector, my Friend.

تدبر

Al-Waliyy is The Protecting Friend — the One who is close, who takes care, who allies Himself with you. Of all the blessings to be grateful for, this may be the greatest: that the Creator of the universe considers you worthy of His friendship. Not His creation only, not His provision only — His walāyah, His close protective friendship. You are not alone, not because people surround you, but because Al-Waliyy is near.

آیت پر تدبر

Out of darknesses — ẓulumāt, plural — into the light — nūr, singular. Many darknesses, one light. His friendship takes you from the chaos of many confusions into the clarity of one truth.

O Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth and Lord of the Great Throne, our Lord and Lord of all things.

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2713

Part of a comprehensive morning du'a — beginning by acknowledging His lordship over everything. When you know who your Friend is, gratitude is the only rational response.

حدیث

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Allah said: Whoever shows enmity to a waliyy (friend) of Mine, I shall be at war with him.'

Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6502
