Al-Jabbār — The Compeller

الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ ۗ أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ

Who have believed and whose hearts have rest in the remembrance of Allah. Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest

Today, I will reach out to someone who is hurting and simply be present with them.

تأمّل

Al-Jabbār carries two meanings: the One who compels and the One who mends. In the relational lens, the second meaning shines. Jabr in Arabic is the setting of a broken bone — the careful, firm, loving act of restoring something shattered to wholeness. When you sit with someone who is broken — who has lost, who has failed, who has been betrayed — and you help them feel whole again, you are doing the work of Al-Jabbār. Be a bone-setter for broken hearts.

The broken heart finds its mending in remembrance. And sometimes the remembrance comes through another person — through their presence, their words, their willingness to simply sit beside you.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. He does not oppress him, nor does he hand him over to the enemy. Whoever fulfils the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfil his needs.'
