Blessings You Cannot See

٧ محرم ١٤٤٨

الْبَاطِنُ

Al-BāṭinThe Hidden

يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِهِ عِلْمًا

He knoweth (all) that is before them and (all) that is behind them, while they cannot compass it in knowledge

Surah Ṭā-Hā (20:110)

النية

Today, I will say alhamdulillah for blessings I don't even know about — the protection I cannot see, the harm I was never aware of.

تأمّل

Al-Bāṭin is The Hidden — and His most profound blessings are often the ones you cannot see. The accident that was averted. The illness that was deflected. The toxic person who was redirected away from your path. You will never know most of the things Allah protected you from. The hidden blessings outnumber the visible ones infinitely, and you will only discover them when the full record is opened. Gratitude for the unseen requires a different kind of faith.

في هذه الآية

They encompass not a thing — lā yuḥīṭūna. You cannot even wrap your mind around a fraction of what He knows, including what He has done for you in secret.

دعاء

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ خَيْرِ مَا تَعْلَمُ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا تَعْلَمُ

O Allah, I ask You for the good of what You know and I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You know.

Attributed in various collections

A du'a that acknowledges the hidden — asking for good you cannot see and protection from harm you cannot perceive.

حديث

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'If Allah loves a servant, He protects him from the world just as one of you would keep a sick person from water.'
