Cosmic Generosity
٩ صفر ١٤٤٨
الْوَهَّابُ
Al-Wahhāb — The Bestower
وَسَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا مِّنْهُ ۚ
And hath made of service unto you whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth; it is all from Him. Lo! herein verily are portents for a people who reflect
Surah Al-Jāthiyah (45:13)
النية
Today, I will notice one cosmic gift I have normalised — sunlight, air, water — and say alhamdulillah as if receiving it for the first time.
تأمّل
Al-Wahhāb at cosmic scale gives without measure: sunlight for free, oxygen for free, gravity for free, water cycles for free. The most essential things in existence are given abundantly, without invoice, without condition. Al-Wahhāb's generosity at cosmic scale is so vast that we have normalised it. We call it 'nature.' But it is gift. All of it.
في هذه الآية
All from Him — jamīʿan minhu. Not just some things. Everything in the heavens and earth has been placed in service to you. The entire cosmos is a gift.
دعاء
رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ
My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous
Surah Ash-Shu'arāʾ (26:83)
Ibrāhīm asked to be given AND to be joined with the righteous. The best gifts connect you to good people.
حديث
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Give gifts to one another and you will love one another.'
