Honour in the Natural Order
Al-Mu‘izz — The Honourer
Verily we have honoured the Children of Adam. We carry them on the land and the sea, and have made provision of good things for them, and have preferred them above many of those whom We created with a marked preferment
Surah Al-Isrāʾ (17:70)
النية
Today, I will live as someone who has been deliberately honoured — carrying myself with dignity, gratitude, and purpose.
Al-Muʿizz at cosmic scale honours the earth by making it habitable — the perfect distance from the sun, the perfect tilt of the axis, the perfect thickness of the atmosphere. Among billions of planets, this one was honoured with the conditions for life. And among billions of species, the human being was honoured with consciousness, language, and the ability to know its Creator. Preparing your heart in Shaʿbān means recognising this honour and rising to deserve it.
Definite preference — tafḍīlan. Not a slight edge. A definite, intentional, deliberate preference. You were honoured on purpose.
O Allah, grant honour and strength to Islam and the Muslims.
Widely narrated
A du'a for collective honour — because preparing for Ramadan is not just personal. The ummah enters Ramadan together.
حديث
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The most honourable of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.'
— Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 4899 (quoting Surah Al-Ḥujurāt 49:13)
