Greater Than Any Fear

الْكَبِيرُ

Al-Kabīr — The Most Great

عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ الْكَبِيرُ الْمُتَعَالِ

He is the Knower of the Invisible and the Visible, the Great, the High Exalted

Surah Ar-Ra'd (13:9)

النية

Today, every time fear arises about Ramadan or anything else, I will say Allāhu Akbar — and mean it.

تأمّل

Al-Kabīr at cosmic scale: the observable universe is 93 billion light-years across. The Throne of Allah is greater than all of it. And Al-Kabīr is greater than His Throne. In Shaʿbān, whatever fears you carry toward Ramadan — fear of failing, fear of not being good enough, fear of old habits returning — place them next to Al-Kabīr's greatness. They shrink to nothing.

في هذه الآية

Al-Kabīr and Al-Mutaʿāl together — Grand and Exalted. Nothing is above Him in any dimension.

دعاء

Allāhu Akbar — Allah is Greater. Greater than what? Greater than whatever is on your mind when you say it. Greater than your fear. Greater than your distraction. Greater than your limitation.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Nothing remains of prophethood except glad tidings — the good dream that a Muslim sees or is shown.'
