Fair to Yourself
١٨ ربيع الثاني ١٤٤٨
الْمُقْسِطُ
Al-Muqsiṭ — The Equitable
لَا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا ۚ
Allah tasketh not a soul beyond its scope. For it (is only) that which it hath earned, and against it (only) that which it hath deserved. Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget, or miss the mark! Our Lord! Lay not on us such a burden as thou didst lay on those before us! Our Lord! Impose not on us that which we have not the strength to bear! Pardon us, absolve us and have mercy on us, Thou, our Protector, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk
Surah Al-Baqarah (2:286)
النية
Today, I will set a sustainable worship level — something I can actually maintain — and commit to it.
تأمّل
Al-Muqsiṭ after Ramadan — be fair to yourself. You will not maintain the level of Ramadan worship year-round, and that is not failure. The Prophet (peace be upon him) himself did not fast every day or pray all night every night outside Ramadan. Equity means finding the sustainable level — the worship you can maintain consistently without burning out. Al-Muqsiṭ's balance applies to your spiritual life too.
في هذه الآية
Beyond its capacity — illā wusʿahā. He knows your capacity better than you do. He does not expect Ramadan-level worship in Shawwāl. He expects consistency.
دعاء
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الثَّبَاتَ فِي الْأَمْرِ وَالْعَزِيمَةَ عَلَى الرُّشْدِ
O Allah, I ask You for steadfastness in my affairs and resolve upon guidance.
Sunan an-Nasāʾī 1305, graded ṣaḥīḥ
Steadfastness — thabāt. Not intensity. Not peak performance. Steadfastness. That is the post-Ramadan ask.
حديث
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Take on only as much as you can do of good deeds, for the best of deeds are those done consistently, even if they are small.'
