اليوم 56
Worthy of All Praise
٨ رمضان ١٤٤٧
الْحَمِيدُ
Al-Ḥamīd — The Praiseworthy
وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ
Unto Him be praise in the heavens and the earth! - and at the sun's decline and in the noonday
Surah Ar-Rūm (30:18)
النية
Today, I will say alhamdulillah for one thing that did not go the way I wanted.
تأمّل
Al-Ḥamīd is The Praiseworthy — deserving of praise in every circumstance, not just the pleasant ones. When things go well, He is praiseworthy for blessing. When things go badly, He is praiseworthy for wisdom. There is no condition under which His praise is inappropriate. Al-Ḥamīd is worthy of your gratitude even when you do not feel grateful.
في هذه الآية
Throughout the heavens and the earth. His praise is not confined to human mouths. The stars praise Him, the mountains praise Him, the wind praises Him. You are joining a chorus that never stops.
دعاء
رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ
Our Lord, and to You belongs all praise.
Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 789
Said after rising from rukū‘ in every prayer. A daily act of recognising that praise belongs to Him.
حديث
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever eats food and says ‘All praise is due to Allah who fed me this and provided for me without any effort or power on my part’ — his past sins are forgiven.”
