التَّوَّابُ

At-Tawwāb — The Acceptor of Repentance

ثُمَّ تَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ لِيَتُوبُوا ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ

And to the three also (did He turn in mercy) who were left behind, when the earth, vast as it is, was straitened for them, and their own souls were straitened for them till they bethought them that there is no refuge from Allah save toward Him. Then turned He unto them in mercy that they (too) might turn (repentant unto Him). Lo! Allah! He is the Relenting, the Merciful

Surah At-Tawbah (9:118)

النية

Today, I will return to Allah from one specific wrong — and not wait until I feel worthy. At-Tawwāb does not require worthiness. He requires turning.

تأمّل

At-Tawwāb is The Acceptor of Repentance — not just accepts but turns toward you first. Tawbah means “to turn.” He turns toward you, making your turning possible. The beauty of At-Tawwāb is that He does not wait for you to be perfect before accepting your return. He accepts the return itself — messy, tearful, stumbling, genuine.

في هذه الآية

He turned to them SO THAT they could repent. His turning came first. Their repentance was made possible by His initiative.

دعاء

The simplest, most complete act of turning back. Nine words. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said them more than seventy times a day.

حديث

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Allah extends His hand at night to accept the repentance of those who sinned during the day, and extends His hand during the day to accept the repentance of those who sinned at night.”
