الْعَظِيمُ

Al-‘Aẓīm — The Magnificent

وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ

Allah! There is no God save Him, the Alive, the Eternal. Neither slumber nor sleep overtaketh Him. Unto Him belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. Who is he that intercedeth with Him save by His leave? He knoweth that which is in front of them and that which is behind them, while they encompass nothing of His knowledge save what He will. His throne includeth the heavens and the earth, and He is never weary of preserving them. He is the Sublime, the Tremendous

Niat

Today, when a problem feels enormous, I will recite this tasbīḥ three times and remember the scale.

Renungan

Al-‘Aẓīm is The Magnificent — a magnitude beyond human measurement. When your problems feel enormous, they are being measured on a human scale. On the divine scale, the thing that overwhelms you is a speck. This is not to dismiss your pain. It is to reframe it. Your difficulty is real, but it is not bigger than Al-‘Aẓīm.

Tentang ayat ini

The closing of the greatest verse in the Quran. After describing His knowledge, His sovereignty, His preservation of all things, the verse ends here: Most High, Magnificent. The final word is greatness.

Doa

Said in rukū‘, the bowing position. You say it when your body is bent — physically lowering yourself while your tongue declares His greatness.

Hadis

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “There are two statements that are light on the tongue, heavy on the scales, and beloved to the Most Merciful: Subḥānallahi wa biḥamdih, Subḥānallahi al-‘Aẓīm.”
