الْمُعِزُّ

Al-Mu‘izz — The Honourer

إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى الصَّابِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ

Say: O My bondmen who believe! Observe your duty to your Lord. For those who do good in this world there is good, and Allah's earth is spacious. Verily the steadfast will be paid their wages without stint

Intention

Today, I will thank someone who has been patient with me — someone whose patience I may have taken for granted.

Reflection

Al-Muʿizz is The Bestower of Honour — and the greatest honour He bestows is upon those who are patient. Not upon the loudest, the richest, or the most visible — but upon those who endured quietly, who trusted without seeing the outcome, who kept going when every fibre told them to stop. In your relationships, honour the patient people around you. The mother who never complains. The father who works without recognition. The friend who shows up without being asked.

On this verse

Without account — bi-ghayri ḥisāb. Every other reward in the Quran is quantified, multiplied, specified. But patience? The reward is limitless. Uncountable. Beyond calculation.

Du'a

The prayer of Ṭālūt's army before facing Goliath — vastly outnumbered, they asked for patience before they asked for victory. The order matters.

Hadith

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever perseveres in patience, Allah will make him patient. No one has been given a gift better and more comprehensive than patience.'
