Al-Aḥad — The Unique

قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ

Say: He is Allah, the One

Intention

Today, I will stop comparing my blessings to anyone else's. My life is a unique gift from Al-Aḥad.

Reflection

Al-Aḥad is The Unique — absolutely without like or equal. And in the lens of gratitude: your blessings are unique too. No one has your exact combination of gifts, trials, relationships, and opportunities. The life you are living — with all its imperfections — is a one-of-a-kind creation from Al-Aḥad. Comparing it to anyone else's is comparing a painting to a different painting and asking why they are not the same. They were never meant to be.

On this verse

The surah that equals a third of the Quran. Four verses that define everything: He is One, Unique, Eternal, without equal. If you understand this surah, you understand the foundation of everything.

Du'a

Two phrases, light on the tongue, heavy on the scales, beloved to Ar-Raḥmān. The simplest gratitude, the heaviest reward.

Hadith

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'There are two phrases that are light on the tongue, heavy on the scales, and beloved to the Most Merciful: SubḥānAllāhi wa biḥamdih, SubḥānAllāhil-'Aẓīm.'
