مَالِكُ الْمُلْكِ

Mālik al-Mulk — Owner of Sovereignty

قُلِ اللَّهُمَّ مَالِكَ الْمُلْكِ تُؤْتِي الْمُلْكَ مَن تَشَاءُ وَتَنزِعُ الْمُلْكَ مِمَّن تَشَاءُ

Say: O Allah! Owner of Sovereignty! Thou givest sovereignty unto whom Thou wilt, and Thou withdrawest sovereignty from whom Thou wilt. Thou exaltest whom Thou wilt, and Thou abasest whom Thou wilt. In Thy hand is the good. Lo! Thou art Able to do all things

Intention

Today, I will use one thing I have been given — a skill, a resource, a connection — in the way its true Owner would want.

Reflection

Mālik al-Mulk — the Owner of All Sovereignty. Everything belongs to Him. Your time, your talent, your body, your family, your career — all of it is His property on loan to you. Sacred devotion in Rajab means recognising this ownership and living accordingly. You are not the owner of your life; you are the steward. The devoted servant uses what the Owner has given in the way the Owner intended.

On this verse

You give and You take — tu'tī and tanziʿ. The same hand that gives can take. Every possession you hold is temporary. Every authority you carry is borrowed.

Du'a

Said after every prayer — a constant recalibration of who actually owns everything.

Hadith

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The world is sweet and green, and Allah is making you stewards in it to see how you will act.'
