Day 193
Peace Built Into Creation
27 Muharram 1448
السَّلَـٰمُ
As-Salām — The Source of Peace
وَالسَّمَاءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ الْمِيزَانَ
And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure
Surah Ar-Raḥmān (55:7)
Intention
Today, I will do one thing to preserve peace in my environment — resolve a conflict, reduce waste, restore something to its proper order.
Reflection
As-Salām at cosmic scale: the universe operates in peace. Planets do not collide randomly. Seasons cycle with reliability. The human body maintains homeostasis through thousands of coordinated systems. This cosmic peace — this grand orderliness — is the signature of As-Salām. When we disrupt it (pollution, injustice, war), we are disturbing a peace that was divinely installed. Devotion to As-Salām means working to restore the peace He built into everything.
On this verse
He raised the heaven and set the balance — al-mīzān. The universe is balanced by design. Peace is not something you create; it is something you preserve.
Du'a
اللَّهُمَّ أَنتَ السَّلَامُ وَمِنكَ السَّلَامُ تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ
O Allah, You are Peace and from You is peace. Blessed are You, O Owner of Majesty and Honour.
Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 591
Said immediately after every prayer — the first thing after salām is to declare that He is the source of all peace. Every prayer ends by returning to the origin.
Hadith
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Spread peace, feed the hungry, maintain family ties, and pray at night while people sleep — you will enter Paradise in peace.'
