Day 2

The Mercy That Stays

13 Rajab 1447

الرَّحِيمُ

Ar-RahīmThe Especially Merciful

وَكَانَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَحِيمًا

He it is Who blesseth you, and His angels (bless you), that He may bring you forth from darkness unto light; and He is ever Merciful to the believers

Surah Al-Aḥzāb (33:43)

Intention

Today, I will notice one specific mercy meant just for me — and name it.

Reflection

Ar-Rahīm is the mercy that is specific, personal, sustaining. If Ar-Rahmān is the rain, Ar-Rahīm is the drop that reaches your particular root. This is the mercy that remembers your name, that meets you in your specific difficulty, that does not generalize your pain.

On this verse

Notice the specificity: to the believers, Especially Merciful. Not less merciful to others — but a particular, sustaining mercy for those who turn to Him. A mercy that knows your situation by name.

Du'a

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ رَحْمَةً مِنْ عِندِكَ تَهْدِي بِهَا قَلْبِي

O Allah, I ask You for a mercy from You that will guide my heart.

Sunan at-Tirmidhī 3419 (graded ṣaḥīḥ)

A prayer for the kind of mercy that does not just comfort but redirects — guiding the heart toward what is good.

Hadith

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Be merciful to others and you will receive mercy. Forgive others and Allah will forgive you.”

Musnad Aḥmad 7001 (graded ṣaḥīḥ by al-Albānī)
