Day 26

He Hears Everything

7 Sha'ban 1447

السَّمِيعُ

As-Samī‘The All-Hearing

قَدْ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ قَوْلَ الَّتِي تُجَادِلُكَ فِي زَوْجِهَا وَتَشْتَكِي إِلَى اللَّهِ ۖ

Allah hath heard the saying of her that disputeth with thee (Muhammad) concerning her husband, and complaineth unto Allah. And Allah heareth your colloquy. Lo! Allah is Hearer, Knower

Surah Al-Mujādalah (58:1)

Intention

Today, I will speak to Him in a whisper — knowing that a whisper to As-Samī‘ is louder than a shout to the world.

Reflection

As-Samī‘ is The All-Hearing. Not just the words you speak aloud. The whisper under your breath. The du’a you make in your heart at 3am. The silent cry you thought no one caught. He heard it. He heard all of it. And unlike human listeners, He is never distracted, never bored, never too busy.

On this verse

‘Ā’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said she was in the same room and could not hear the woman’s complaint clearly — yet Allah heard it from above the seven heavens. He hears what even the person beside you cannot.

Du'a

سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ

Allah hears the one who praises Him.

Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 789

Said in every rak’ah of prayer. A reminder embedded in the daily rhythm: He hears.

Hadith

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “You are not calling upon one who is deaf or absent. You are calling upon One who is All-Hearing, All-Seeing, and near.”

Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 2992
