Al-Ākhir — The Last

إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ * وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ * لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ

Lo! We revealed it on the Night of Predestination. Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Night of Power is! The Night of Power is better than a thousand months

Surah Al-Qadr (97:1-3)

Intention

Tonight and every remaining night of Ramadan, I will worship as if it is Laylat al-Qadr.

Reflection

Al-Ākhir in the last ten nights of Ramadan — the end is near, and the most precious part is now. Al-Ākhir reminds you that endings carry the most weight. The Prophet (peace be upon him) exerted himself in the last ten more than any other time. The scholars say: a deed is judged by its ending. Let the ending of your Ramadan be its best part. Al-Ākhir, who will be there after everything, is watching how you finish.

On this verse

Better than a thousand months — and it is hidden in the last ten. The treasure is buried in the ending.

Du'a

The du'a of the last ten nights. If you have energy for nothing else, have energy for this.

Hadith

ʿĀishah said: 'When the last ten nights began, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would tighten his waist-wrapper, stay up the night, and wake his family.'
