Day 271
Awe Sustained
17 Rabi' al-Thani 1448
ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ
Dhul-Jalāli wal-Ikrām — Lord of Majesty and Generosity
تَبَارَكَ اسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ
Blessed be the name of thy Lord, Mighty and glorious
Surah Ar-Raḥmān (55:78)
Intention
Today, I will pray one prayer with the same awe I felt during Ramadan's best night.
Reflection
Dhul-Jalāli wal-Ikrām after Ramadan — the awe you felt in tarāwīḥ, the intimacy of suhoor du'as, the tears of the last ten nights — all of that was an encounter with Majesty and Honour. Continuity means not letting that encounter fade into a memory. He is still majestic. He is still generous. The encounter is still available. You just have to keep showing up.
On this verse
His Name is blessed — tabāraka. The blessing is in the Name itself. Say it, and the encounter continues.
Du'a
يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ
O Owner of Majesty and Honour!
Sunan at-Tirmidhī 3524, graded ṣaḥīḥ
Be persistent — aliẓẓū. The instruction didn't expire with Ramadan.
Hadith
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Be persistent in calling upon: Yā Dhal-Jalāli wal-Ikrām.'
