Day 306

Knowing and Acting

22 Jumada al-Awwal 1448

الْعَلِيمُ

Al-‘AlīmThe All-Knowing

وَلَا تَقْفُ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ ۚ

(O man), follow not that whereof thou hast no knowledge. Lo! the hearing and the sight and the heart - of each of these it will be asked

Surah Al-Isrāʾ (17:36)

Intention

Today, I will act on one thing I know but have been neglecting — one Name I learned but have not embodied.

Reflection

Al-ʿAlīm integrated: knowledge without action is arrogance. After four cycles, you know more about the Names than you did at the start. But knowledge that does not change behaviour is not knowledge — it is information. The integration of Al-ʿAlīm is acting on what you know. Every Name you have learned demands a response in your life.

On this verse

You will be questioned about your hearing, your sight, your heart — all the tools of knowledge.

Du'a

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, wholesome provision, and accepted deeds.

Sunan Ibn Mājah 925

Knowledge, provision, and deeds — the daily trifecta. After Fajr, every morning.

Hadith

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The feet of the son of Adam will not move on the Day of Resurrection until he is asked about his knowledge — what he did with it.'
