الْعَلِيمُ

Al-‘Alīm The All-Knowing

وَلَا تَقْفُ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِ عِلْمٌ ۚ

(O man), follow not that whereof thou hast no knowledge. Lo! the hearing and the sight and the heart - of each of these it will be asked

Surah Al-Isrāʾ (17:36)

Intention

Today, I will act on one thing I know but have been neglecting, one Name I learned but have not embodied.

Reflection

Al-ʿAlīm integrated: knowledge without action is arrogance. After four cycles, you know more about the Names than you did at the start. But knowledge that does not change behaviour is not knowledge: it is information. The integration of Al-ʿAlīm is acting on what you know. Every Name you have learned demands a response in your life.

On this verse

You will be questioned about your hearing, your sight, your heart, all the tools of knowledge.

Hadith

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The feet of the son of Adam will not move on the Day of Resurrection until he is asked about his knowledge — what he did with it.'
