Day 321
Self-Forgiveness
7 Jumada al-Thani 1448
الْغَفُورُ
Al-Ghafūr — The All-Forgiving
قُلْ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِن رَّحْمَةِ اللَّهِ ۚ
Say: O My slaves who have been prodigal to their own hurt! Despair not of the mercy of Allah, Who forgiveth all sins. Lo! He is the Forgiving, the Merciful
Surah Az-Zumar (39:53)
Intention
Today, I will forgive myself for one thing I have been carrying — and trust that Al-Ghafūr has already forgiven it.
Reflection
Al-Ghafūr integrated: forgive yourself. After four cycles with The Most Forgiving, the truth is that self-forgiveness is often the heaviest weight to set down — especially if you carry shame, or trauma, or memories that re-open faster than they heal. He has already forgiven you; the work now is letting that forgiveness reach the parts of you still holding the verdict against yourself. There is no rush. Let His mercy teach you how, gently and over time. You are not defined by your worst moments — you are defined by your turning back.
On this verse
Do not despair — the verse that has saved more souls than any sermon.
Du'a
أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ
I seek forgiveness from Allah, there is no deity but Him, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining, and I repent to Him.
Sunan Abī Dāwūd 1517, graded ṣaḥīḥ by Al-Albānī
The comprehensive istighfār — invoking His greatest Names while seeking forgiveness.
Hadith
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'By the One in whose Hand is my soul, if you did not sin, Allah would replace you with a people who would sin and then seek forgiveness.'
