الْوَكِيلُ

Al-Wakīl — The Trustee

فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُ لِلْجَبِينِ * وَنَادَيْنَاهُ أَن يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ * قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ الرُّؤْيَا ۚ

Then, when they had both surrendered (to Allah), and he had flung him down upon his face, We called unto him: O Abraham! Thou hast already fulfilled the vision. Lo! thus do We reward the good

Surah Aṣ-Ṣāffāt (37:103-105)

Intention

Today is Eid al-Aḍḥā. I will celebrate the willingness to sacrifice — and trust that Al-Wakīl replaces everything given for His sake.

Reflection

Al-Wakīl on Eid al-Aḍḥā — the feast of sacrifice. Ibrāhīm trusted Al-Wakīl with the most impossible command: sacrifice your son. And Al-Wakīl replaced the sacrifice with a ram, proving that the test was about trust, not about loss. Every sacrifice you make in trusting Him is met with His provision. What you give up for His sake, He replaces with something better.

On this verse

You have fulfilled the vision — ṣaddaqta ar-ruʾyā. The test was never about the sacrifice. It was about the willingness.

Du'a

From You and for You — minka wa laka. Everything came from Him, and everything returns to Him. The sacrifice is just giving back.

Hadith

The Prophet (peace be upon him) sacrificed two white horned rams, slaughtering them with his own hand, saying Bismillah and Allahu Akbar.
