Day 340

His Friendship Endures

26 Jumada al-Thani 1448

الْوَلِيُّ

Al-WaliyyThe Protecting Friend

اللَّهُ وَلِيُّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا

Allah is the Protecting Guardian of those who believe. He bringeth them out of darkness into light. As for those who disbelieve, their patrons are false deities. They bring them out of light into darkness. Such are rightful owners of the Fire. They will abide therein

Surah Al-Baqarah (2:257)

Intention

Today, I will lean into His friendship — knowing that Al-Waliyy's protection does not end when this book does.

Reflection

Al-Waliyy integrated: His friendship does not expire with this book. When the last page is turned, Al-Waliyy is still your Friend, your Protector, your Ally. The journey through the Names was an introduction. The relationship is forever.

On this verse

Of those who believe — alladhīna āmanū. If you believe, He is your Waliyy. That is settled.

Du'a

اللَّهُمَّ أَنتَ وَلِيِّي فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ تَوَفَّنِي مُسْلِمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ

O my Lord! Thou hast given me (something) of sovereignty and hast taught me (something) of the interpretation of events - Creator of the heavens and the earth! Thou art my Protecting Guardian in the world and the Hereafter. Make me to die muslim (unto Thee), and join me to the righteous

Surah Yūsuf (12:101)

Yūsuf's du'a — after everything he went through, he asked for one thing: die as a Muslim and be joined with the righteous.

Hadith

Allah says in a ḥadīth qudsī: 'Whoever shows enmity to a waliyy of Mine, I shall be at war with him.'
