الْآخِرُ

Al-Ākhir — The Last

كُلُّ شَيْءٍ هَالِكٌ إِلَّا وَجْهَهُ ۚ

And cry not unto any other god along with Allah. There is no God save Him. Everything will perish save His countenance. His is the command, and unto Him ye will be brought back

Surah Al-Qaṣaṣ (28:88)

Intention

Today, I will invest in what endures beyond me — prayer, charity, knowledge, love — because only what goes to Al-Ākhir lasts.

Reflection

Al-Ākhir: after this book, after this year, after this life — He remains. Your journey with the Names has no final page because Al-Ākhir is eternal. What you learned will accompany you into every tomorrow, and ultimately into eternity.

On this verse

Everything — except His Face. What remains when everything else is gone is the only thing worth attaching your heart to.

Du'a

Two requests: His pleasure and Paradise. Everything else follows from these.

Hadith

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Wealth is not in having many possessions. True wealth is the richness of the soul.'
