الْمُحْيِي

Al-Muḥyī — The Giver of Life

أَوَمَن كَانَ مَيْتًا فَأَحْيَيْنَاهُ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُ نُورًا يَمْشِي بِهِ فِي النَّاسِ كَمَن مَّثَلُهُ فِي الظُّلُمَاتِ لَيْسَ بِخَارِجٍ مِّنْهَا ۚ

Is he who was dead and We have raised him unto life, and set for him a light wherein he walketh among men, as him whose similitude is in utter darkness whence he cannot emerge? Thus is their conduct made fairseeming for the disbelievers

Intention

Today, I will do one thing that makes me feel spiritually alive — a prayer with presence, a verse read slowly, a kindness given freely.

Reflection

Al-Muḥyī is The Giver of Life — the One who animates what was still, who breathes existence into nothingness. Every heartbeat is a fresh act of giving life. Every morning is a new grant. In the month of the Prophet (peace be upon him)’s birth, remember: his coming was an act of Al-Muḥyī giving life to a world that had forgotten how to live.

On this verse

Dead and then alive. Darkness and then light. The verse describes spiritual revival — the moment faith enters a heart. That revival is the work of Al-Muḥyī, and it can happen at any moment, including this one.

Du'a

Calling on the Ever-Living when you need revival. His life sustains your life.

Hadith

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The similitude of the one who remembers his Lord and the one who does not is like the living and the dead.”
