Day 75
Visible Everywhere
27 Ramadan 1447
الظَّاهِرُ
Aẓ-Ẓāhir — The Manifest
سَنُرِيهِمْ آيَاتِنَا فِي الْآفَاقِ وَفِي أَنفُسِهِمْ
We shall show them Our portents on the horizons and within themselves until it will be manifest unto them that it is the Truth. Doth not thy Lord suffice, since He is Witness over all things
Surah Fuṣṣilat (41:53)
Intention
Today, I will notice three signs of Allah in the physical world around me and pause at each one.
Reflection
Aẓ-Ẓāhir is The Manifest — the One whose signs are visible in everything. You do not need to go looking for proof of His existence. It is in the sunrise, in the symmetry of a leaf, in the way your lungs expand without being told. Aẓ-Ẓāhir is not hiding. He is the most obvious thing in the universe, for those willing to see.
On this verse
In the horizons and within themselves — His signs are both external and internal. Look out at the world and you see Him. Look inward and you see Him there too.
Du'a
وَأَنْتَ الظَّاهِرُ فَلَيْسَ فَوْقَكَ شَيْءٌ
And You are the Manifest — there is nothing above You.
Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2713
Nothing above — not in rank, not in reality, not in importance. His manifestation is the highest truth.
Hadith
The Prophet (peace be upon him) when he saw something that pleased him would say: “All praise is due to Allah, by whose favour good things are accomplished.”
— Sunan Ibn Mājah 3803 (graded ḥasan)
