الْمَانِعُ

Al-Māni‘ — The Preventer

وَعَسَى أَن تَكْرَهُوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ ۖ وَعَسَى أَن تُحِبُّوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ شَرٌّ لَّكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ

Warfare is ordained for you, though it is hateful unto you; but it may happen that ye hate a thing which is good for you, and it may happen that ye love a thing which is bad for you. Allah knoweth, ye know not

Intention

Today, I will reflect on one thing I was denied that later turned out to be a mercy.

Reflection

Al-Māniʿ is The Preventer — the One who withholds what would harm you, even when you cannot see the harm. Every closed door in your life was closed by a Hand that knows what lies behind it. The pain of prevention is real, but so is the mercy embedded within it. When you were denied something you desperately wanted, Al-Māniʿ was at work. Knowledge begins with accepting that you do not always know what is best for you.

On this verse

The final clause settles everything: He knows, and you do not. This is not a dismissal of your pain — it is an invitation to trust the One whose knowledge has no gaps.
