Do I have to wear Arab/South Asian clothing?
Short Answer
No. Islam requires modesty in dress, not a specific cultural style. You can dress modestly in any clothing from any culture.

Consensus across all four schools of thought
"Real Muslims wear thobes/abayas." While these are beautiful garments, they are Arab cultural clothing, not an Islamic uniform.
Dress modestly according to Islamic guidelines using whatever cultural clothing you're comfortable with. If someone tells you your modest Western clothing isn't "Islamic enough," they're confusing culture with religion.
Is the hijab obligatory?
The vast majority of scholars across all four schools consider hijab (head covering for women) obligatory. A minority of modern scholars hold a different view.
Do I have to change my name?
No. You only need to change your name if it has a meaning that contradicts Islamic belief (like "servant of [a false god]"). Most Western names are perfectly fine.
