Do I have to speak Arabic?

Short Answer

You need to learn a small amount of Arabic for the ritual prayer (Salah). Beyond that, Arabic fluency is NOT required to be Muslim.

Allah understands every language. You can make dua (personal supplication) in English, Indonesian, Urdu, or any language. You can read Quran in translation to understand its meaning. You can study Islam in your native language. The only Arabic requirement is the small amount used in the daily prayers — Al-Fatiha, SubhanAllah, Allahu Akbar, the tashahhud, etc. Even this can be learned gradually. Learning more Arabic is RECOMMENDED and beautiful, but it is not obligatory for your Islam to be valid.
