Gathered in Devotion

18 Muharram 1448

الْجَامِعُ

Al-Jāmi‘The Gatherer

رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ جَامِعُ النَّاسِ لِيَوْمٍ لَّا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ

Our Lord! Lo! it is Thou Who gatherest mankind together to a Day of which there is no doubt. Lo! Allah faileth not to keep the tryst

Surah Āl-ʿImrān (3:9)

ارادہ

Today, I will pray one prayer in community — or if I cannot, I will reach out to one person and strengthen a bond of faith.

تدبر

Al-Jāmiʿ is The Gatherer — the One who brings all things together: the scattered pieces of your life, the community for prayer, the entire creation for the Day of Judgement. Devotion in community is richer than devotion alone. The congregational prayer is twenty-seven times greater than the individual one. When you stand shoulder to shoulder with other believers, you are experiencing Al-Jāmiʿ's gathering — a preview of the final gathering, but in beauty rather than in fear.

آیت پر تدبر

He gathers — jāmiʿ. All of humanity, from every era, every land, every background. The ultimate gathering. And it will happen — lā rayba fīh, no doubt in it.

دعا

اللَّهُمَّ أَلِّفْ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِنَا وَأَصْلِحْ ذَاتَ بَيْنِنَا

O Allah, bring harmony between our hearts and mend what is between us.

Sunan Abī Dāwūd 969, graded ṣaḥīḥ

A du'a for gathering hearts — because physical gathering without heart-gathering is just a crowd, not a community.

حدیث

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Prayer in congregation is twenty-seven times better than prayer offered alone.'
