Day 136

No Trial is Greater Than Him

29 Dhul Qi'dah 1447

الْكَبِيرُ

Al-KabīrThe Most Great

That is because Allah, He is the True, and that whereon they call instead of Him, it is the false, and because Allah, He is the High, the Great

Surah Al-Ḥajj (22:62)

Intention

Today, when a difficulty feels overwhelming, I will say 'Allāhu Akbar' and remember that nothing is greater than Him.

Reflection

Al-Kabīr is The Greatest — greater than any affliction, any loss, any fear. When patience feels impossible, it is because the trial appears bigger than the One you are trusting. It is not. Nothing is greater than Al-Kabīr. No illness, no betrayal, no loss, no injustice comes close to His greatness. When you remember this, patience becomes not just possible but logical — you are relying on the Greatest, so of course you can endure.

On this verse

Al-ʿAliyy al-Kabīr — High and Great. Everything else is bāṭil — empty, false, without substance. Your trial feels enormous, but next to Him it is bāṭil.

Du'a

Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is no deity except Allah. Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, and to Allah belongs all praise.

Takbīr of Eid

The takbīr we repeat on the days of celebration — declaring His greatness in our moments of joy. But the same words sustain us in our darkest hours.

Hadith

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Know that if the entire nation were to gather together to benefit you, they would not be able to benefit you except with what Allah has already written for you.'
